Reiki
What Is Reiki?
A gentle invitation to pause, reconnect and restore balance
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive complementary wellbeing practice that encourages deep relaxation, stillness and a greater sense of connection with yourself.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words:
Rei — universal or spiritual
Ki — life-force energy
The concept of life-force energy appears in many cultures and traditions and is known by different names, including Qi, Chi, Prana and life-force energy.
Reiki was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui, who established his first Reiki school and clinic in Tokyo in 1922.
Reiki is open to everyone and does not require any particular religious belief or spiritual affiliation.
The Reiki Experience
People experience Reiki in different ways. Some describe a deep sense of relaxation, warmth, stillness or peacefulness, while others simply enjoy having dedicated time away from the demands of everyday life.
Reiki may support:
-
Relaxation and a greater sense of calm
-
A feeling of balance and inner connection
-
Mindful awareness and self-reflection
-
Rest and restorative wellbeing
-
A greater sense of peace and emotional ease
-
Creating space to slow down and reconnect with yourself
There is no particular way you are expected to feel during or after a session.
Reiki is not a medical treatment and does not diagnose, prevent or cure illness or psychological conditions. It is offered as a complementary wellbeing practice and should not replace medical care, prescribed medication or psychological support.
Trauma-Informed Reiki
Your safety. Your choice. Your boundaries.
My Reiki practice is informed by trauma-sensitive principles. I recognise that every person's experiences, boundaries and needs are different.
My intention is to create a calm, respectful and empowering environment where you remain in control throughout your session.
Safety Comes First
Before beginning, I explain what the session involves and give you the opportunity to ask questions. I seek your consent and check in with you throughout the session.
Nothing happens without your permission.
You Are in Control
This is your session.
You can choose:
-
Hands-on or hands-off Reiki
-
Where you would prefer or prefer not to be touched
-
Whether you would like music or aromatherapy
-
To pause or change the session at any time
-
To stop the session whenever you wish
You remain fully clothed throughout the session.
A Personalised Experience
No two people are the same, so I do not follow a rigid approach.
We begin with a conversation about how you are feeling and what you would like from the session. The experience is then adapted to your comfort, preferences and needs.
Compassionate & Non-Judgemental Care
Sometimes relaxation or quiet reflection can bring unexpected thoughts, emotions or physical sensations to the surface.
If this happens, you will never be judged or pressured to continue.
I will offer gentle support while respecting your boundaries and choices.
Grounding & Gentle Support
Where appropriate, simple grounding and mindfulness techniques may be incorporated into the session to encourage a sense of calm and present-moment awareness.
My aim is for you to feel heard, respected, safe and supported.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
Your first session begins with a confidential consultation where we can talk about your wellbeing, what has brought you to Reiki and anything you would like me to be aware of.
You then remain fully clothed and comfortably supported on a treatment table, with blankets and cushions available.
Reiki may be offered with my hands gently placed on agreed areas of the body or held just above the body without physical contact.
You always choose your preferred approach.
There is no requirement for physical touch.
During the session, you are welcome to relax, close your eyes, remain silent or talk if you wish.
Depending on your preferences, the environment may include gentle background music and aromatherapy. Sound healing may also be incorporated where appropriate and with your consent.
Reiki & Sound
Reiki and sound can be combined to create a deeply relaxing sensory experience.
If sound is incorporated into your session, I will always consider your comfort and sensory preferences. You can ask for the sound to be reduced, changed or stopped at any time.
Please review the Sound Bath & Reiki Safety Information before booking if you have any health or sensory concerns.
Distance Reiki
Reiki Without the Need to Travel
Distance Reiki is offered as a complementary spiritual and wellbeing practice for clients who are unable to attend in person or who simply prefer to receive a session remotely.
Sessions can be offered online or remotely, depending on your preference.
For an online session, we can connect using a video call such as WhatsApp or another agreed platform.
For a remote session without a video call, I may ask you for basic information such as your name and an intention for the session. You are not required to do anything at the scheduled time; however, you may choose to create a quiet space, lie down or sit comfortably.
Distance Reiki is based on the traditional Reiki belief that Reiki can be offered beyond physical distance. This is a spiritual belief and should not be understood as a scientifically established method of transmitting energy or treating a medical condition.
Your consent is always required.
Distance Reiki cannot be used to control another person, change their behaviour or make decisions on their behalf.
About Kasia
I am a qualified and insured Reiki Master & Teacher and Sound Practitioner, trained in both Usui Shiki Ryoho and Usui Reiki Ryoho traditions.
My practice is further informed by training and experience in Sound Healing, Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy and mindfulness-based wellbeing practices.
My approach brings together Reiki, sound, aromatherapy and mindful relaxation to create a calm and personal experience.
At the heart of my work is a simple intention:
to create space for you to slow down, reconnect and simply be.
I believe that wellbeing is deeply personal. There is no single approach that works for everyone, which is why I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental environment where your individual needs, boundaries and choices are respected.
My own wellbeing practices include Reiki, meditation, breath work, yoga, sound, time in nature, hiking, running, reading and working with essential oils.
These practices help me cultivate presence, gratitude and connection - qualities I bring into my work with clients.
A Moment for You
You do not need to arrive with a particular goal.
You do not need to believe in Reiki.
You simply need to give yourself permission to pause.
A Reiki session is an invitation to step away from the noise of everyday life and create a little space for yourself.
Come as you are.
Rest. Breathe. Reconnect.
